What is your favorite thing about your job? I love all aspects of this job but my favorite part is taking exception care of my clients. Whether its analysing and explaining current market conditions, offering knowledge and expertise in negotiating contracts, or researching an area of concern, going the extra mile and finding creative solutions are key to navigating the choppy waters of today's real estate market.
What set's you apart from your competition? I strive to practice real estate with heart and integrity. My clients tell me they have never had a real estate broker as diligent and geniune; one client called me "the gold standard" (check out my testimonials!). I am passionate about my work, houses, and living in this area. I belong to several local non-profit boards, participate in fundraisers, and volunteer to stay abreast of the driving forces influencing real estate values in the diverse neighborhoods of Durham. As a thank you, I always make a donation to a local non-profit of my client's choosing.
What did you do before real estate? After college, I worked on a NY Stock Exchange institutional bond trading desk, and while getting my MBA, I did marketing for an environmental consulting firm in Chicago. I stayed home for eleven years raising our three sons, during which time I held volunteer leadership positions including Treasurer of our preschool, two PTA president positions, and multiple fundraising chair opportunities. Easing back into the working world, I joined Duke University for three years before deciding to try real estate in 2009.
What organizations do you support? I am on the Board of Directors of Partners For Youth, a year-round mentoring and summer job program for middle and high school students (ages 14-19 years) based in Southwest Central Durham. I also am on the board of Arts in Action and support many local non-profits including Genesis Home, Threshold, Student U, SEEDS, and Durham Central Park.
What do you do to unwind? Our whole family is nuts about tennis. When I am between matches, I love to garden, walk our two Labs, and foster my creative spirit through crafts.
My bio: As a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, I majored in Economics with a Chemistry concentration. I learned the importance of teamwork while rowing on the UNC Varsity Women's Crew Team. I received my MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management with concentrations in decision sciences, marketing, and international business. While living in Chicago, I met my husband. Although I grew up in Greensboro, I embraced the urban lifestyle during my years in the midwest. We moved to Chapel Hill in 2001, and then to Durham in 2003, to raise our three sons in the Bull City's intellectually, artistically, and culturally rich atmosphere. I immediately felt at home in authentically southern and gracious Durham and have loved living here ever since.
